This is in honor of Justina Ford. She was the first African American female doctor in Denver, CO. Because she was black, she was not allowed to practice in clinics or hospitals, she practiced out of her home for 50 years, serving individuals who were typically turned away from hospitals. She delivered nearly 7000 babies, and even in 1950 remained the only black female doctor in Denver. She represents tenacity and persistence, and is an incredible example for overcoming gender and racial barriers to be a light in the lives of so many others. To honor her, is a 14k gold-filled black onyx teardrop ring. Black onyx is said to bring emotional and physical strength especially during difficult times. Size 7, but can make another size if requested.
