This necklace is made from sterling & fine silver, with a hand sawed and textured Poplar tree, with 3 small Garnets in the leaves, and a Garnet at the base. The quote “blood on the leaves and blood at the root” is stamped on the back of the necklace. The pendant measures about 82x25mm, with a 22” chain. This necklace was inspired by “Strange Fruit,” which is a poem originally written by Abel Meeropol (Lewis Allan) in 1937, and was famously performed by Billie Holiday in 1939. This haunting, heartbreaking and powerful poem was written in protest of the rampant inhumane lynching of Black people in the South.
