Item description:

This piece was hand fabricated with sterling silver. The black cotton cord is 24” long and has an “S” hook closure. The basil leaves represent success and the calla lilies represent faith, two qualities that Tywanza lived out every day.

Tywanza Sanders was a hardworking man who held several jobs and wrote poetry and rap lyrics in his spare time. He was described by loved ones as a positive, uplifting presence. Tywanza had just earned a business administration degree from Allen University when he was murdered by a white supremacist during a Bible study at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC on June 17, 2015. During the shooting, Tywanza attempted to stop the gunman and shield his great aunt with his body. His mother survived the shooting and said, “Tywanza is my son, but he was my hero.”
