ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This pin is an amalgam of media; using my quilting, beading and silver smithing knowledge to create. It’s statement is to be mindful of the gap in care and understanding for the black and brown folks in our one human family.

In 2019, at the age of 20, Malone Mukwende noticed in his Medical education he was receiving to become a Doctor a lack of description in how symptoms look on darker skin. He has since gone on to publish a journal whose main aim is to “Highlight the lack of diversity in medical literature and education “. This is an ongoing journey and information can be given and found on www.blackandbrownskin.co.uk

Pin measures 3.5 x 3".
